Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some of the most common questions we receive.

What is GotStuffNeedStuff?

GotStuffNeedStuff is a mobile app that reduces friction in donating and receiving donations by connecting donors with those in need with privacy in mind, using geolocation, in-app chat, and reputation monitoring.

How are we different from the Salvation Army?

Items you donate to the Salvation Army do not go directly to people in need. They are re-sold at their thrift stores, and those funds are used for the general operations of the Salvation Army. Anything left over after paying executives, staff, and overheads is used, according to their website, to fund rehab programs. What makes Got Stuff Need Stuff unique is that your items go directly to those in need. We don’t have any overhead costs and don’t pay anyone salaries.

How do I download the app?

The iOS and Android versions of the app are both in open beta testing. Navigate to GotStuffNeedStuff.com on your mobile device and tap the appropriate button for your device, depending on whether you have iOS or Android. If you have iOS, you should first download Apple's TestFlight app from the App Store. Once you have TestFlight downloaded, click the "Download on the Apple Store" button on the homepage of your mobile device. Then, scroll down on the instructions page until you see the "Start Testing" button under the "Step 2: Join the Beta" header. This will open your TestFlight app on your phone and allow you to download the GotStuffNeedStuff app within the TestFlight environment. If you have Android, click the "Get it on Google Play" button on the home page on your mobile device, and you will be taken directly to the Google Play Store to download the test version of the mobile app.

Please leave feedback directly in the TestFlight app in the "feedback" textbox.
